Bio

Filipino artist, John Paul Antido (b 1982) a.k.a. JAPS was born and raised in Antipolo City, a small town up the mountains where he currently lives and works to this day. He studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, taking up a major in Painting. The Artist uses impasto technique of laying thick paint with textured brushstrokes using vivid colors and bright hues. Most of the subjects in his paintings shows people travelling to different destinations, make shift vehicles as mode of transporation, traditionally dressed folks, oriental elements and objects of antiquity as visual devices, and depiction of various diasphoric phenomenon. The artworks brought to life with paint and canvas, give us a different view of ourselves transposed to a larger arena of global proportions.
